Privacy Policy

1 Who we are

Clari is a product by bfyaı, an independent software company based in India. Clari is an Android expense tracker — it reads your transaction SMS and bank statements on your device and turns them into clear spending insights. Our website is bfyaı.in and you can reach us at hello@bfyai.in.

2 What data Clari collects

Specifically, Clari may collect:

• Support enquiries — if you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to you.
• Crash reports (optional) — if you opt in to crash reporting, anonymised stack traces may be sent to help us fix bugs. No financial or personal data is included.
• Subscription status — Google Play manages payment. We receive only a subscription token (no payment card details) to verify your Pro status.

3 What data Clari does NOT collect

• Your transactions, balances, or ledger
• The contents of your SMS messages
• Your imported bank or credit-card statements
• Your name, phone number, or identity
• Your location
• Your PIN or any biometric data
• Any advertising identifiers or tracking cookies
• Any data via analytics SDKs — we do not integrate Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or similar

4 Permissions we request

Clari requests the following Android permissions. All processing happens on-device.

READ_SMS

Used to read bank and UPI transaction alerts so Clari can log your expenses automatically. Only financial messages are parsed, the parsing happens entirely on your device, and message content is never uploaded.

Storage / file access (PDF statements)

Requested only when you choose to import a bank or credit-card statement. The selected PDF is read and parsed locally; the file and its contents are never sent off-device.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS

To show due-date reminders for EMIs, subscriptions, and bills, and to confirm when new transactions have been synced.

Internet (INTERNET permission)

Used only to verify your Google Play subscription token. No transaction, SMS, or statement data is ever transmitted.

5 Local storage

Clari stores the following data locally on your device only, in a private on-device database (SQLite) and encrypted key-value storage (MMKV):

• Your transaction ledger and categories
• Parsed dues, EMIs, and reminders
• Your hashed PIN (never stored in plain text)
• App settings and preferences
• Trial start timestamp
• Google Play subscription token

This data is scoped to the app's private storage. It is deleted when you uninstall Clari or clear app data. We cannot access it remotely.

6 Third-party services

Google Play Billing

In-app purchases are processed entirely by Google Play. We receive a subscription receipt token to verify your Pro status. We never see your payment card details. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.

7 Children's privacy

Clari is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8 Your rights

Because Clari stores all data locally on your device, you have complete control:

• Access — all your data is on your own device, accessible through the app.
• Deletion — uninstalling Clari or clearing app data deletes everything. You can also clear data from within the app at any time.
• Portability — export your full ledger as CSV or JSON whenever you like.
• Correction — you can edit transactions, categories, dues, and preferences inside the app at any time.

9 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Clari after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
